What the SigenStor is
SigenStor is Sigenergy's home energy storage system. Sigenergy describes it as five functions in one: solar inverter, EV DC charger, battery power conversion, battery pack and energy management. In practice you choose an Energy Controller (the hybrid inverter) and between one and six stackable battery modules. The EV DC charging module is listed by Sigenergy as a separate product that works with the Energy Controller.
The SigenStor is the battery we typically fit.

Good to know
- Stack it to the size you needOne to six battery modules per Energy Controller, and Sigenergy says old and new modules can be mixed.
- The inverter is part of the systemThe Energy Controller is a hybrid inverter with its own solar inputs, so even a battery-only install includes one.
- Backup needs the gatewaySigenergy's 0 ms switchover figure applies when the Sigen Energy Gateway is fitted with the controller and battery.
- EV charging is a separate moduleThe EV DC charging module has its own datasheet and a 3-year warranty, and works with the Energy Controller.
- Read the warranty conditions10 years, if installed by a skilled installer and kept online for updates. The document we read is for Europe.
- Smallest size is one moduleA single module is 6.02 kWh total, 5.84 kWh usable. We size from your evening use at survey.
Price
Adding a battery typically costs £3,000–£7,000 fully installed, depending on size. The survey confirms the size and the price, and we give you a fixed written quote. See typical prices for the full ranges.

SigenStor questions
Can SigenStor run my home in a power cut?
Yes, if it is set up for it. Sigenergy quotes 0 ms load-side disruption, but only when its Energy Gateway is fitted together with the Energy Controller and battery. As with any battery, backup is a specification choice made at the start, and we would plan which circuits it covers at survey. Peak output in off-grid mode is limited to twice the controller's nominal output for 10 seconds, so heavy loads such as an electric shower need checking.
Can I add more battery modules later?
Sigenergy designs the battery to be stacked, up to six modules per Energy Controller, and says old and new modules can be mixed because each pack has its own optimiser. The limit is the controller: if you might want six modules, the controller and the battery's power rating need to suit that from day one. We would check this against your likely future needs at survey.
Does SigenStor work with my existing solar panels?
The SigenStor Energy Controller is a hybrid inverter with its own solar inputs, so it is designed to take the panels' output directly. If you have an existing system, the usual choices are to replace the old inverter with the hybrid or to add a separate AC-coupled battery. Sigenergy's published SigenStor datasheets do not describe an AC-coupled connection to a third-party inverter, so we would confirm the best route for your roof at survey.
How big a battery do I need for my home?
Roughly the electricity you use in the evening and overnight, which for many Northern Ireland homes is 6 to 10 kWh. SigenStor's modules are 5.84 kWh and 8.76 kWh usable, so a single module covers a smaller home and two modules cover a larger one. Buying more than you cycle each day adds cost without adding savings, so we size from your actual usage.
Is the EV charger part of SigenStor?
Sigenergy markets SigenStor as including an EV DC charger, but lists the EV DC charging module as its own product with its own datasheet and warranty (3 years), and says it must be used with a Sigen Energy Controller. Treat it as an add-on to confirm when you ask for a quote. Many homes use an ordinary AC charger instead, and we can talk through which suits your car.
How long is the warranty?
Sigenergy's Europe warranty document gives 10 years on the battery and Energy Controller, with a promise that the battery keeps 60% of its usable energy over that time. It requires installation by a skilled installer, an internet connection for updates and claims within 30 days. That document refers to Europe and does not name the UK, so we will confirm the terms that apply to a UK purchase with Sigenergy's UK supplier before you buy.
Is SigenStor safe to have in the house?
It uses lithium iron phosphate cells, the more thermally stable chemistry, and Sigenergy lists IEC/EN 62619 and UN 38.3 testing for the battery. The units are rated IP66 and can be installed outdoors or in a garage, within the temperature limits. Siting, ventilation and escape routes are covered in our installation checks.
