Two buildings, two roof types
Firmus Energy wanted to lower the electricity costs and carbon footprint of its Antrim headquarters and the engineering building beside it. Both use most of their electricity during the working day, when the panels are generating.
Each building got a matching system of 35 panels, a 10 kW inverter and a battery. The roofs are different, though: the main office has a curved standing-seam roof and the engineering building a pitched profiled-steel roof, so each needed its own mounting.
Each 15.2 kWp array runs on a 10 kW inverter, which accepts an array up to about 1.5 times its rating. That avoided paying for a larger inverter on either building.
Why it mattered to the client
B9 Energy's 2024 write-up of the project records Firmus Energy's aims as lower running costs and a smaller carbon footprint across both buildings.
What was installed
- 35 all-black Jinko Tiger Neo 435 W panels on each building: about 15.2 kWp per roof and 30.5 kWp in total
- A Fronius 10 kW three-phase hybrid inverter in each building
- A BYD battery stack beside each inverter
- Mounting for two roof types: the curved standing-seam roof of the main office and the pitched profiled-steel roof of the engineering building
- Fronius Solar.web monitoring for both systems
From survey to switch-on
- Step 1
Assessment
The energy use and roof layout of both buildings were assessed, and a matching system was specified for each.
- Step 2
Installation
Both systems were installed over four weeks, with scaffolding to each roof and the work arranged around normal office operation.
- Step 3
Monitoring
Both systems report to Fronius Solar.web, so Firmus Energy can track generation in real time.
The install

What the client gets
- System
- Two 15.2 kWp arrays · two 10 kW inverters · a BYD battery in each building
- Modelled generation
- About 22,564 kWh a year across both buildings
- Modelled carbon saving
- About 5.8 tonnes of CO₂ a year
Generation and carbon figures are design estimates from B9 Energy's 2024 project write-up, not metered results. No savings or payback figures are published for this project. Real output varies with weather and usage.

Antrim town and the Lough Neagh shore combine newer estate housing with rural smallholdings, so we quote everything here from a 4 kWp starter array to a 30 kWp agricultural roof.
